Chicago’s Montrose Pictures wants to release Algren the Movie in fall 2013. Check out the trailer above, which mentions Algren’s relationship with Simone de Beauvoir (her “breakup letter” to Algren is here).

According to this article, Algren was in 1961 sought as the editor of our own Poetry. He suggested Gwendolyn Brooks take the editorship instead.
