The April 2015 issue of Poetry (which is free to download!) is largely devoted to the work of the BreakBeat poets, whose anthology has just been published by Haymarket Books. As the word BreakBeat suggests, these poems often sample, echo, or syncopate musical references—hip-hop in particular, but also house, blues, jazz, and popular music. 

We celebrated The BreakBeat Poets anthology with a reading at PoFo on April 16, and you can see some videos of the performances on our Instagram. And that’s not all! In honor of the many artists, albums, and songs mentioned throughout the issue, the editors put together a Spotify playlist that you can find over on the Harriet blog.
